As someone who has always loved the Stanley Kubrick interpretation of this epic, I have to say that I REALLY enjoyed this one. Having never read the book, I never knew that the Kubrick version was so different from Stephen King’s unusual account. The two films are definitely two completely different stories.

The charactors in this version are so remarkable more developed and believably realistic.

Steven Weber’s Jack Torrence is a normal guy that is trying hard to deal with his alcoholism and arouse, and also maintain his family together, while at the same time being slowly consumed by the forces of the Overlook Hotel. He is worthy more that unprejudiced a babbling Psycho.

Rebecca De Mornay’s Wendy is a more believable, strong wife also struggling to occupy her marriage and protect her son. This is definitely not the whimpering and submissive Wendy of the Kubrick version.

I rcommend this film to any fan of Stephen King. This DVD makes a substantial addition to any worthy fear library.

If you liked the Stanley Kubrick version of this record, I deem you will be pleasantly suprised.

The Stanley Kubrick version of this memoir was a classic in its possess apt, but IMO should not be considered to be a movie version of the book at all. Stephen King’s book, and the miniseries version on this DVD, are a “worried house” anecdote. Kubrick’s film is a psychological thriller. They are not even in the same genre.

That said, the Kubrick film is better in terms of sheer filmmaking - when Kubrick was on, he was really, really favorable, and it shows in his version of this chronicle. Sadly, that fact is often missed by the legions of fans who rep so caught up in “it’s not like the book”-itis that they don’t luxuriate in the film for what it is. Jack Nicholson is a far better actor than Steven Weber, and it shows.

The miniseries, however, has one Expansive advantage - with a total of nearly 8 hours of “movie” to work with, they were able to support the storyline virtually untouched. Although I am typically not a believer - there are unprejudiced not very many movies made from novels that even remotely resemble their current source material ( “Exit To Eden,” originally an erotic current by Anne Rice, turned into a Dan Aykroyd comedy, impartial LEAPS to mind for some reason…) - this movie is as cessation to a perfect conversion of a original as I’ve seen.

The creepy moments are really, really creepy - the scene with topiary animals gripping closer every time the camera pans away absolutely makes your skin sprint, even if you’re prepared for it. Although Steven Weber isn’t Jack Nicholson, the character he’s playing isn’t a “Jack” kind of guy - and Weber fills the role admirably, even though occasionally the touching family scenes teeter Suitable on the edge of being maudlin.

If you have the patience for it, which I peer at least one other viewer didn’t, this is in fact an salubrious film. Unbiased don’t reflect this and the Stanley Kubrick movie to be different versions of the same memoir - they’re not, and the comparison will develop both films suffer. You’re better off to relish them both as clear, separate entities, with very different agendas.

Oh, and do NOT turn your relieve on any hedge lions.

Heh.

Aka the “Trunks Special”. This is about what would happen (have happened?) to the world if Trunks hadn’t gone back in time to save Goku and warn the others of the coming of the Androids. (Alternate timelines can be so confusing!) Gohan, who is the last living Z-Warrior, realizes that he can not defeat the androids and begins training a young Trunks. I have only seen the Japanese version, so far, but I know that all Trunks and Gohan lovers will want this one. It has some really heart-wrenching moments in it.

This dvd is mainly for the widestream American fans of DBZ. If you watched the series,(like so many), on Cartoon Network, it left out alot of story. There is a huge mystery as to where exactly trunks came from, how bad it really was, and how devistating the androids really were. Believe me, any questions you may of had, are definetly answered here in this dvd.

The story starts off explaining the “real” story line to Dragon Ball Z, as to where Goku gets infected with a radical new strain of virus, which affects super saiyans. He passes away, and six months after that, the androids show up, and start destroying everything. Vegeta, Krillin, Yamcha, Tien, Chizazu, and Piccillo all fell to the androids awesome power. (excuse me if I misspelled any of their names) All that were left was Trunks, and Gohan. I don’t want to give away any more, so just to sum it up (for those who actually saw the series), alot of fighting and battling, and then he decides to travel to the past to give Goku the antidote, and to warn him of the dangers to take place in 3 years from that point.

Watch the dvd, and really see something. I still like to watch it even though I have seen it a couple dozen times. The one last thing that you must know, is the two languages play a key role in this dvd. If you play the english edition, it is good enough to make you understand exactly what is going on, but if you REALLY would like to know the true story, watch it in its original japanese edition. There you will see a different story all together. :) thanks for listening(reading). ENJOY!!!

“Children of Men,” by Mexican director Alfonso Cuaron, was one of the more unusual success stories of 2006. While not a blockbuster, by any standards, this unconventional film was all but abandoned by a studio that didn’t know how to market it. Positioned for release during prime Oscar season, this is not a film that was backed as a potential nominee. However, as almost universal critical acceptance came rolling in–a smaller, but loyal, fan base discovered and embraced this movie. “Children of Men” ended up, therefore, with much acclaim and admiration, decent box office, a more widespread distribution, and 3 Academy Award nominations (Screenplay, Editing, and Cinematography).

Buy,Download, Or Stream Children of Men! Click Here

In an interesting twist on the apocalypse drama genre, “Children of Men” presents a world that is coming to an end with a whimper as opposed to a bang. For there is no cataclysmic explosion forcing humanity to confront it’s own mortality. No, in this case, people have simply lost the ability to reproduce–and the youngest person alive is now approaching adulthood. Of course, over the ensuing years (the film is set in 2027) of this ongoing tragedy, there has been an expected societal breakdown. Now, the streets of London are ravaged by terrorism and extremist groups are battling to overturn the complacent, and possibly complicit, government. While this may seem like a broad and epic canvas, “Children of Men” covers many weighty issues within the relatively straightforward story of its protagonist, Clive Owen. Owen, an ex-activist who is now somewhat disconnected, is drawn back into a world that he wants no part of. The unlikeliest and most reluctant of heroes, Owen confronts his own ideology and apathy when an extremist group introduces him to a pregnant teen. Fearing that she will be exploited, used, or otherwise politically manipulated by the warring factions–he decides to deliver her to a utopian (and perhaps mythical) society whose only interest is in saving humanity. Getting her free from the controlling clutches that bind her and crossing a country plagued by insurrection, “Children of Men” becomes a harrowing and brutal action picture with violence that resembles much of what we see on TV news today.

Owen has long been a favorite of mine. Having taken notice of him in “Croupier” (and if you haven’t caught this great noir piece, please do), I have been quite impressed by his rise in mainstream films. He was so electrifying in “Closer” that I even forgave him for “Derailed.” Here, he is the perfect antihero–and his evolution from a disinterested party to a rogue patriot is an indelible portrait of a man rediscovering a purpose and meaning in life. Julianne Moore, Michael Caine, and Clare-Hope Ashitey (as the pregnant team) lead an able supporting cast. The documentary feel of the film’s action pieces suit the material well, and the conflicts are well staged and all too believable.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Children of Men! Click Here

Now, there are many political debates to be started from “Children of Men” (none of which will I engage in here), but what I admired about the film’s screenplay is how focused it is. Without being preachy or engaging in unnecessary “speechifying,” this film plays as straight action. And while there is a “revelatory” moment near the end that almost goes too far (but is understandable within the context of the film), “Children of Men” allows you to draw your own conclusions. It just presents the story and leaves much of its interpretation up to the viewer. That, to me, is always a satisfying choice. Whether you view this film as action, sci-fi, political allegory, or a combination of all three–it’s a worthwhile and entertaining film. KGHarris, 03/07.

Children of Men just came out today in Spain and it is fantastic.

The story line is totally original and the acting is superb. Clive Owen is captivating as a man caught between his sorrow from his past and the hope for a new world future.

The basic premise is set in the year 2027 and 18 years ago women mysteriously stopped being capable of having children. Society has started to crumble because all hope of the future has disappeared.

Owen’s character (Theo), an ex-activist, is pulled into an underground “terrorist” group that has found something that will bring hope to the world; but hidden agendas and distrust are threatening to pull the only hope left apart.

The cinematography and set designs are top notch, and with a supporting cast that includes Michael Caine and Julianne Moore- it only takes a great story to that next level of excellence.

Also the soundtrack is really well chosen and they use the music to great effect in some scenes; for example King Crimson’s “court of the crimson king” is especially effective.

Highly recommended.

January 5th.

I thought I would add that I just saw the movie for the second time today. The visual poetry and thought provoking ideas have stayed quite strong in my mind since I last saw it in October. The second time around the movie stirred up just as many thoughts and emotions as the first.

As some of the other reviewers has mentioned this is a very real feeling science fiction. The problems of tomorrow in this film seem to align itself with many of the issues that we are burying ourselves in today like our growing dependency on chemicals (many with unknown side effects), or the waste that we put in our environment, and last and certainly paramount, the decreasing faith we have of anything beyond our sciences in which we measure reason, and rely upon.

Children Of Men has become one of my favorite movies. And I hope that anyone with a thirst for thoughtfulness gets a chance to see this brilliant movie.

Get this set and own the Power!!!!

“He-Man and the Masters of the Universe” debuted when I was 11 years old. I remember practically running home from school each day so as not to miss a single word. I absolutely loved the daily dose of action in Eternia, and then applying ideas gleaned from the show to playing with my action figures.

Even now at 33 years old, I still find these cartoons to be highly enjoyable. They bring back a lot of fond memories, and the morals taught in them still hold true today. They’ve held up over time and can be enjoyed by today’s children too.

This collection of the second half of the first season contains one of my favorite episodes, “The House of Shokoti”. It was the series’ only two-parter that I can recall. Ram Man’s continual butchering of Shokoti’s name, with her finally shouting at him “Shokoti, you fool!” was priceless. The episode also contained a character simply referred to as “Mask” who never saw a plastic rendition, much to my chagrin. He perished at the end of the first half though, so that is probably why. He was still an awesome foe who would have been a welcome addition to my figure lineup.

Among the special features contained in this box set, “Commercial Spots” is mentioned. I can only hope that means the little blurbs before and after the commercial breaks featuring Orko. Remember those? There were at least four of them that I can recall. Orko’s head bursting through an orange field saying He-Man would be right back, then a sad-eyed Orko repairing the hole he had made with tape. Also, Orko rapidly whipping off-screen so fast he lost his hat and cloak, then his bare arms reaching back on-screen to grab them. Plus, Orko spinning in from the distance like a tornado, saying his message, then spinning back off into the distance in the same tornado-like fashion. One other one was Orko working his magic with the little sparkles. While I’m glad that they are not included in each episode on the DVD’s, I still was hoping for the opportunity to give them another look in a supplemental section. Hopefully they ARE contained here as the item referred to as “Commercial Spots”. I don’t know for sure.

With all the episodes this set contains, as well as the wealth of bonus materials, this would be a great buy for anyone wanting something exciting and entertaining for their children to watch, or for a child of the 80’s like me who enjoys re-living a piece of his or her childhood.

Although this isn’t really billed as a Roger Corman collection he produced/directed 3 of the films and was executive producer on the fourth.

The 2 real gems are The Pit and the Pendulum and The Fall of the House of Usher both based on Edgar Allen Poe works and both starring Vincent Price in some of his best horror work. The other Corman Production is “X” The Man with the X-Ray Eyes starring Ray Milland. All three of these films have well done commentary by Corman.

The fourth film on which Corman was executive producer is The Dunwich Horror and stars Sandra Dee in something quite different from her Gidget and Tammy roles.

Other than the commentaries on the first three films the only other extras are theatrical trailers. All 4 films are in widescreen and all but The Pit and The Pendulum are enhanced for widescreen TVs. All 4 are made from very good quality masters.

A lot of fans have said that season 3 was the golden year of Three’s Company and I couldn’t agree more.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Three’s Company - Season Three! Click Here

This season was the one when everyone was watching and was #1 in the ratings. We see Chrissy, Jack and Janet (and the Roepers) in their prime; They’ve grown used to the set and the characters are interacting like a well-oiled machine.

The transfer is MUCH better than season 1, which I still think was pushed out too early due to the passing of John Ritter. The extras are almost as good as season 2. We get to see the second pilot with “the other Chrissy” and turns out it was the second episode of the series. Kind of weird, isn’t it? Regardless, it is interesting seeing another Chrissy but the character is so overdone I could see why they replaced her with Suzanne Somers.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Three’s Company - Season Three! Click Here

Along with the extras is another memorandum to John Ritter with interviews from a lot of the cast (with the exception of Suzanne Somers, who in my opinion needs to grow up and be a part of this great DVD set.) There’s also another bloopers reel as well as “the best of” moments of the main characters.

There’s also a great function to play all the episodes of each disc (which is great if you’re lazy like me.) The only thing I wish would be they would insert chapters within the episodes. Hitting the forward button takes you to the next episode rather than past the opening credits or otherwise. All the original openers along with promos from John Ritter and ending tags have all be reinserted, so on the disc is what you saw when it originally aired.

For fans, always recommended. Four stars.

This is the last season the Ropers were around and having watched countless specials about the backstage crap between the actors, I remember Norman Fell described as being very broken hearted that he and Audra Lindley weren’t allowed to come back to this show after The Ropers failed to get an audience. (Still hoping they’ll release The Ropers and even Three’s a Crowd on DVD as well) As much as I love, LOVE, Don Knotts, it would have been to fun to have had all three of them on the series somehow. (Don Knotts doing maintenance?)

My only real problem with the series on DVD, so far, has been the complete lack of Suzanne Somers on the bonus material. ( a little Priscilla Barnes wouldn’t hurt either!!, loved Terri) If this is somehow a slap in her face for something that happened 25 years ago, we the audience are the one’s suffering…once again! Joyce Dewitt is wonderful, and still very beautiful, on the bonus material and everything seems heartfelt but the fact that she and Suzanne Somers aren’t together on these discs is very depressing for this viewer, they must have many great stories to share together that have nothing to do with who did what to who 25 years ago.

I highly recommend this DVD set as well as Seasons 1 & 2. Here’s to future Three’s Company fans….Enjoy KIDS!

Average customer review:

There are relatively few movies about the American Revolution. I think this is due to the fact that the American side lost most of the battles of that war. The battle at Saratoga, the surprise attack at Trenton, and the siege of Yorktown are part of the short list of American victories, and except for the occasion television movie or mini-series, they are rarely touched upon. Consequently, “Drums Along the Mohawk” remains the best of American movie about the revolution even though it was made before World War I and even though the redcoats are not really involved in the fight.

“Drums Along the Mohawk” does not start off as a movie about the American Revolution. Instead it begins as a movie about settling the frontier, which, at that point, was upstate New York. The focus is on a pioneer couple, newlyweds, Gilbert (Henry Fonda) and Magdalena (Claudette Colbert), called Lana. Martin is a farmer who brings his bride to the Mohawk Valley where their home is burned out by Indians allied with the British. The couple are taken in by neighbors after that happens and Martin joins the militia, but the settlers are going to need more men than that to fight the Indians and save the fort from attack.

Based on a novel by Walter D. Edmonds the screenplay for “Drums Along the Mohawk” is by Sonya Levien and Lamar Trotti, although William Faulkner worked on it without receiving credit as well. Edmonds’ history novels were all set in upstate New York and “Drums Along the Mohawk” is about the warfare between the settlers and the Six Nations of the Iroquois allied with the British. The Battle of Oriskany in 1777, fought in a forest, was a American victory although their commander General Nicholas Herkimer (Ralph Imhof) died of his wounds in one of the moving scenes of the film.

This was the third film that John Ford made in 1939, following “Stagecoach” with John Wayne and “Young Mr. Lincoln” with Fonda; his next film would be “The Grapes of Wrath.” Colbert and Fonda are the stars, but they are upstaged by several members of the supporting case, such as Edna May Oliver as Mrs. McKlennar and Arthur Shields as the Reverend Rosenkrantz. The old lady has such an iron will that she can make Indians take her bed out, with her in it, while they are burning down her home, and the reverend has a memorable scene in which he eases the suffering of a tortured settler. Fonda is young and earnest, while Colbert comes to terms with what it means to be living on the American frontier in troubled times.

More than anything else “Drums Along the Mohwawk” is about people coming to the realization that they are Americans, an interpretation more than amply justified by the film’s final scene. These are not the Sons of Liberty living in Boston and dealing with the King’s troops and all those burdensome taxes. These are small families living out on the frontier for whom the idea of the United States of America was as odd as a flag with thirteen red and white stripes with a circle of white stars on a blue field. Perhaps it is because it takes place off the main stage that “Drums Along the Mohawk” manages to hit the right notes.

Drums Along the Mohawk is a very good movie about a period in American history that not many movies have been made about. Set during the Revolutionary War, the story is about two newlyweds and their new life in the Mohawk Valley. The couple is trying to establish themselves with a home and farm of their own, but are interrupted when the British and the Mohawk Indian tribe begin to raid all along the valley. The settlers must deal with the raiding Indians while also trying to survive. There is plenty here for fans of Henry Fonda also. The action scenes are excellent, especially the attack on the fort. However, it is also very effective when the characters talk about a battle and how horrible it was rather than the viewer actually seeing it. An enjoyable film that is still very good!

Henry Fonda and Claudette Colbert play Gil and Lana Martin, the newlywed couple struggling to survive. Both are very good and believable as husband and wife. This was a good period for Fonda when he made The Grapes of Wrath around this time. There is an excellent supporting cast, most notably Ward Bond as Adam, Gil’s friend and neighbor, Edna Mae Oliver as the widow Mrs. McLenard, who puts up Gil and Lana when their house is destroyed. She has some incredibly funny scenes especially when some marauding Indians invade her house, but she refuses to leave even as they drag her out on her bed. This is an excellent movie with a great cast and excellent story. Do not miss this Revolutionary War classic!

This is the release of the Transformers animated motion picture in celebration of it’s 20th anniversary as well as a prelude to the release of the Transformers Live action motion picture that will be released in 2007. Let us take a look at the details of this dvd release which will help buyers in making the choice as to whether or not to make this film part of their dvd library.

Firstly, this dvd is released by Sony BMG Music Entertainment, as therefore those who might be expecting a dvd release of the animated film together with the live action film later in 2007 will be sorely disappointed as the property doesn’t belong to the same distributor.

Secondly, this dvd release is a 2 disc release featuring three versions of the feature film, commentary tracks and interviews, a sneak peak at the live-action movie.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Transformers - The Movie! Click Here

A breakdown of the dvd details are as follows :

*Brilliantly remastered and color-corrected

*16×9 widescreen presentation, which has not been seen anywhere since the movie was in theatres twenty years ago

*Full screen edition as well

*Commentary tracks

*Interviews with director Nelson Shin, story consultant Flint Dille and voice actress Susan Blu

*Autobot Matrix of Knowledge Presentation: Truly showcasing the pop culture phenomenon that is The Transformers, Sony BMG has created a special version of the film for the DVD release.

*The `Autobot Matrix of Knowledge’ will feature trivia and fun facts about the movie itself, the Transformers brand, and the pop culture references in which Transformers has been spoofed/tributed. Approximately one hundred fun facts will show up on screen throughout the movie. Many of the factoids were provided by fans through a special DVD site created by Sony BMG to solicit input–marking the first time that the huge

Transformers fan base has ever been asked to participate in the creation of a Transformers home entertainment release.

*Original commercials for the toy line and movie

*Behind-the-scenes sneak peak at next summer’s highly anticipated Transformers live action movie event. The special feature segment on the DVD will include comments from Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg who share their vision and passion for Transformers

*Collectible `transforming’ cover

My personal view is that for this price, and the amount of special features thrown in, this dvd is a real bang for your buck. If you are a Transformers fan, this is a must buy. If you wanna have a Transformers history lesson and get hyped up before the movie release, this is also a worthy consideration.

If you belong to none of the people in the category above, you might wanna stay away. But this is darn good entertainment whichever way you look at it. This deserves 5 stars, no doubt!

No doubt hidden in the 271 reviews that precedes my own you will find many of my ideas and thoughts about this movie. No matter, I still feel obligated to share what this movie meant and continues to mean to me. To begin, credit must be given to the composer and artist of this film. While, although sometimes a bit cheesy (ie. that same choo-choo-train sewer music playing whenever unicron appeares, which is borrowed from from ROCKY IV), the music does energize the film at times and makes for a great soundrack. Next, despite what some others have said, the animation for this film was great for its time. I mean, who could ever forget that scene when Optimus decides, “Megatron must be stopped–no matter what the cost,” and leaps into action blasting away. That’s the stuff great memories are made of. Conversely, however, the plot of this movie made perfect sense when I was ten years old, but now seems a bit weak. But what can you expect? After all, it IS–or WAS–a childrens cartoon. More than anything I think this film represents the end of an era. While kids still have vivid imaginations and continue to love cartoons, I wonder if they will obsess over them (running home from school to make sure you didn’t miss a minute) like we did. In these days of powerfull computers, DVDs, and Wallmart(hehe), I don’t know if things will ever be the same. Bottom line, I love this movie not only for what it is( a childrens cartoon), but for what we made it( a legend that defines a generation). Autobots, transform and roll out.

This is a laugh out loud comedy even if a few elements are in questionable taste. Michael Keaton is hilarious playing an overworked suburban LA man and his three clones. The first clone (Doug 2) created so the Keaton character (Doug) can have more time at home with his wife and kids is a rugged workaholic. Clone #3 is made to be a more sensitive house husband type of guy when the original Doug becomes overwhelmed with all the home time and decides what he really needs is more leisure time for himself. And the fourth clone, well, he’s made from Doug 2 and as my review title quotes the film “a copy made from a copy is never quite as sharp”. Obviously complications arise many having to do with Laura, Doug’s lovely wife, played by Andie MacDowell, who remains oblivious to the fact that she actually has four husbands for awhile. Keaton is remarkable in giving all four of the Dougs distinct personalities and seems to be even able to change his physical characteristics as he plays the different roles. The movie ends rather implausibly but of course it is all just for fun nonsense anyway. One more thing - er I don’t think the “science” behind the cloning is real well researched so don’t watch this hoping to get a better grade on your genetics test!

This is a hysterical movie. Tons of laughter and a funny storyline. I use several quotes from the movie and most people will be able to name this movie. I would highly recommend this movie to anyone who needs a good laugh.

National Lampoon brought the raunchy and raucous college world to the mainstream kids back in the 1970’s with Animal House, which would go on to virtually springboard the careers of several of its stars, including John Belushi and Tim Matheson.

But for those of us who may have been born after the original release of AH and raised on films like the American Pie trilogy get a new version of Animal House for the new generation with Van Wilder.

Van (Ryan Reynolds) is the virtual definition of a slacker in the college world, having spent seven years attending Coolidge College. He is pretty much the life of the party and he revels in it greatly. It’s only until his dad (Matheson) finds out that Van is still in school and places a halt to Van’s tuition payment that he realizes that it’s time to get his head in the game and find a way to graduate and pay tuition.

A story printed by the school’s star reporter Gwen (Tara Reid) causes Van to become a party planner and raise the money for his tuition, along with the help of his closest friend (Teck Holmes of “Real World” fame) and his personal assistant (Kal Penn). When a relationship develops between Van and Gwen, Gwen’s pretentious boyfriend Richard tries to put a wedge between them. When Van learns of this, he gets a little revenge in one of the most ingenious and disgusting ways ever devised (trust me, this has the humping a pie thing beaten hands down, no pun intended…)

Van Wilder is pretty hilarious in spots and somewhat disgusting in others, particularly the classic payback Van pulls on Richard and later on when Gwen also gets a little revenge on Richard when she learns a little something that Richard did behind Gwen’s back. Also, Penn and Holmes have some gut-busting moments in support and is it nice to see Matheson deciding to continue his association with National Lampoon by bridging the gap between Animal House and Van Wilder.

A word of advice, though: if you have a weak stomach, this is not the movie for you. But if have that type of sense of humor that thinks that letting one rip loudly in public causes you to double over with laughter, then definitely check out Van Wilder.

Comedies are my favorite films, and I love this movie, one of the best I’ve seen in a long time. I’ve seen several teen-flick comedies, but this one takes the cake, even over “Road Trip” which I thought was a hoot. Perfect timing on all the quips and humor, and this comedy is just plain college fun. Yeah, there’s a small message in there about growing up and realizing your potential, but it’s woven in pretty well without the sappiness. Small scenes in this movie make me laugh just thinking about them. One of those scenes is when Van is in remorse over his loss of Gwen. A freshman girl walks in asking how he’s doing, and he bursts into “I’m all out of love…I’m so lost without you…” and strums a very poor chord on his guitar. It was great and totally unexpected. I love that scene!

The writers out did themselves on the script. This is a smart comedy that cleverly weaves the characters and story together. I’ve seen other comedies that were complete paradies of other movies with no plot but scene after scene of horrible gags and imitations of other movies. Apparently there is a market out there in copy-cat world that is alive and kicking. Since the movie is set in the tradition of National Lampoon, Ryan Reynolds combines some character traits of Chevy Chase, Jim Carrey and Bill Murray to complete his Van Wilder persona, but he still maintains that lovable charm. He is treated as a celebrity in his school, but eveyone loves him because he sincerely cares for them and knows how to have a “pimpin’ good time” doing it. This is not a typical “teen underdog becomes popular and gets revenge on his school bullies” story. If you dig deep the real conflict of the story is with Van Wilder himself and his reluctance to graduate and move on into the real world. But that’s neither here nor there — it’s more fun to think about him as the Party Liaison or the Raddest …Dude Alive.

Kal Penn holds his own as Van Wilder’s assistant Taj. He just adds that much more to the comedy and practically stole the show. Tara Reid porbably did her best role as Gwen in this movie. That’s about it.

Great movie with lots of laughs. Gotta see it.
